THE SERRATO STORY

A Story That Began in Spain.

Every child who enters our barn carries a story. Ours began thousands of miles from Montgomery, Texas. It started with an unexpected meeting, a fallen table and a conversation that changed two lives.

01 • SEVILLE, SPAIN — 2017

The Moment Everything Changed

In 2017, Ezekiel was working alongside an architect on a project to design a recording studio for a school in Seville, Spain. During the project, the school’s president introduced him to two young women serving there, Katie and Kendall.

Ezekiel immediately noticed Kendall’s kindness and quietly thought she was beautiful, but soon returned his attention to the work in front of him.

A short time later, he caught sight of Kendall carrying a heavy stack of books across the hallway. He hurried over to help. She pointed toward the only open space on a round table already covered with carefully arranged piles of books.

The moment Ezekiel placed the books down, the entire table collapsed.

Books scattered across the floor, and what should have been a brief and slightly embarrassing moment became the beginning of something neither of them expected. As they gathered the books and began talking, what felt like five minutes became nearly two and a half hours.

Somewhere in that conversation, a quiet thought entered Ezekiel’s heart:

What if?

Kendall would later share that when she first saw Ezekiel, she experienced a sudden glimpse of their future together, as though scenes from the life ahead of them had passed before her like a movie reel.

From that unexpected moment, the Serrato story began.

02 • A SHARED CALLING

Two Lives. One Purpose.

As their relationship grew, Ezekiel and Kendall discovered that they shared more than a connection. They both dreamed of building a family, traveling the world and dedicating their lives to ministry and service.

Ezekiel served through music ministry. Kendall served through children’s ministry, including work with children with special needs. Their gifts were different, but their hearts were drawn toward the same purpose: using what God had entrusted to them to encourage others, create belonging and make a meaningful difference.

After they married, that shared calling continued to grow. In time, horses would become the place where their faith, experience and desire to serve the next generation came together.

03 • MONTGOMERY, TEXAS — 2020

A Dream Found Its Home

In 2020, Ezekiel and Kendall established Serenity Equine in Montgomery, Texas.

They did not simply want to create another place where children could take riding lessons. They wanted to build a wholesome, faith-centered equestrian community where every student could be known, encouraged and challenged to discover what they were capable of becoming.

Serenity Equine was created to develop more than riding ability. Through correct instruction, complete horsemanship and meaningful responsibility, students learn confidence, character, discipline, leadership, friendship and purpose.

Some children arrive dreaming of their first ride. Others come ready to strengthen their skills, pursue competition or build a deeper partnership with the horse. Every student begins in a different place, but each is given the opportunity to grow, one stride at a time.

04 • INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION

Experience Given a Greater Purpose

Kendall brings more than 26 years of riding, teaching and competitive experience to Serenity Equine. Throughout her equestrian career, she competed at a professional level and earned numerous trophies and ribbons.

She could have continued building a career centered on her own achievements. Instead, she chose to invest that experience in young riders by giving children the instruction, opportunities and encouragement that could help them discover their own abilities.

Her English riding background brings balance, posture, precision and technical discipline into Western horsemanship and performance. But her greatest measure of success is not found in trophies. It is found in the moment a student becomes independent, overcomes fear, develops confidence, cares for a horse responsibly or realizes that something once thought impossible is now within reach.

05 • OUR CONTINUING STORY

More Than 890 Young Lives and Counting

Since Serenity Equine began, more than 890 young people have come through our barn.

To us, that is much more than a number.

It represents first rides, fears faced, skills developed, friendships formed, competitions entered, responsibilities accepted and young people learning to believe in themselves.

Every student brings a new story through our gates. Every breakthrough becomes part of ours.

For the Serrato family, Serenity Equine is where faith, family, horsemanship and service come together. It is more than a business and more than a riding program. It is the mission they believe they were brought together to fulfill.

“We do this not because we have to, but because serving with purpose is our calling.”

— Ezekiel Serrato

This is the Serrato story.

And every young rider who joins Serenity Equine helps write the next chapter.
